(1) Sicily &The Aeolian Islands, based at Lipari
This includes visits to Etna, Stromboli and Vulcano

The chance to watch Stomboli erupting at night, with superb opportunities for photography.

Extended walk on Etna, including ascent to Summit Craters

Visit to the island of Salina, with complete circuits of Lipari and Salina by boat to view spectacular coastal features.

Climb to the Summit of Vulcano, with walk around the rim of the crater. The chance to bathe in hot springs and mudpools

Mount St Helens, which erupted with such catastrpohic force in 1980, devastating the surrounding landscape.

Mount Hood, the highest peak in Oregon

The historic Columbia River gorge, separating Orgeon and Washington States ~ with numerous waterfalls and Bonneville dam.

Scenic train-ride alongside coast into Canada.

(4) The south and interior of Iceland, including the island of Heimay (July)

Please note that due to the current economic situation in Iceland, it is difficult to give a realistic accurate estimate of costs . For this reason, we have reluctantly had to postpone the visit scheduled for 2010. We fully expect to offer the trip again in 2011.

Drive through the remote interior to the pink and green rhyolite peaks of Landmannalaugar, with the chance to bathe in  hot springs

(5) Santorini  Greece
The next tour on this itinerary will be in 2011

The island which is thought to have given rise to the legend of the lost city of Atlantis

Take the short boat trip to its volcano, Nea Kameni, which last erupted in 1950

Sail alongside the spectacular caldera wall which has a full record of eruptions over the past million years.

Visit the ancient Bronze Age city of Akrotiri, buried by the Minoan eruption of 1545 BC
unearthed and excavated in the late 20th Century

The prehistoric museum in Thira has frescoes and artifacts recovered from Akrotiri giving a glimpse of Bronze Age life on the island.

(6) The Big Island of Hawaii and Honolulu

The opportunity to see lava flowing from Kilauea, recently in a state of constant eruption

The Volcanoes National Park with the "Crater rim drive" and "Chain of craters road"

Visits to Tropical Rainforest and spectacular waterfalls.

The summit of Mauna Kea with its astronomical observatories

Based at Kona Keahou on the dry sunny side of the Big Island, with its white beaches and coral reefs

2 days at Honolulu: the chance to visit  Diamond Head, Waikiki  and Pearl Harbor

(7) La Palma Canary Islands

The island which is the most active in the Canaries - last eruption 1971

The spectacular Caldera de Taburiente - which gave the name to all such features.

Walk along the Ruta de Los Volcanes of the Cumbre Vieja summit crest.

The cinder cones and lavas south of Fuencaliente at the southern tip of the island

The Parque Cultural La Zarza, with stone carvings and museum giving an insight into the life of the original inhabitants of the island, the Benahoares.
